One Hour Swim February 06

Every 2 years our swimmers take part in a Sponsored Swim.  This is the club’s main source of finance to keep it running. This time, once again, we are combining our Sponsored Swim with the BLDSA One Hour Swim.  Sponsorship will be for any distance from 1 width to a maximum of 24 lengths or for those swimmers taking part in the BLDSA One Hour Swim, for a continuous swim of one hour irrespective of the distance swum.

14 swimmers entered this year and another 7 took part in the sponsored swim. Between them they swam in total over 26,589 metres or 797 lengths which is over 16 and a half miles.  The results of the One Hour Swim have been published and are as follows:-

This year 1667 swimmers entered, not only from Great Britain but from all over the world, some of the countries are: Australia, USA, India, Germany, Canada, France, Egypt, Italy, Holland and Greece.  Some of the categories in the open event have over 100 competitors so all our swimmers did extremely well. This event was the first and still is the premier Postal Swim in this country.
